Overview
What we need are V images of the fields listed below, with the exposure times listed. The first three fields have the highest priority, with all others having roughly equal priority. At a minimum we need one image per field per night; even better would be two images per field per night, separated by as many hours as possible. I would really appreciate it if every observer could get at least one frame each of the three high-priority fields every night.
How do I find the fields?
The coordinates are all stored in a file called eastwood_nc. In MOVE, use the OF (open file) command to tell it which file you want to use, and then RF (read file) to tell it the number of the object you want to move to. Use the number in the first column of the table. (Please note that the fields are not listed in order of RA, but in the order they were entered into the observing file.)
What else do I need to do?
Make sure that the telescope is focused, and make the observations at an air mass less than 2. After the exposure is finished, check the image. These exposure times were calculated for moderate seeing. If the seeing is very poor, you may be able to use a longer exposure time. If the seeing is very good, the brightest stars may be over-exposed. Try to keep the maximum counts below about 30,000 ADU. If either of these is true, please make a second exposure.
What do I do with the data when we're finished?
Send Kathy an e-mail at kathy.eastwood@nau.edu with a list of the filenames for the object frames, the bias frames for that night, and the flat fields for the V filter.
